Surfing Queensland

Queensland can be mistaken as having one long continuous beach. To the north are places like Noosa Heads' where their beaches are their main attraction. Its main beach and its small bays around the headland are common surfing locations which are known on world surfing circuits. Maroochydore is also a venue of major surf sport carnivals. To the south in 1925, at a relatively isolated spot near a long white surf beach, Jim Cavill opened his 16 bedroom hotel & the surrounding township of Elston came to life and soon became known as Surfers Paradise.
